Grotto of the Madonna

At Punta Rocca there is also the Grotto for the Madonna: it’s a cave similar to those carved out by soldiers from 1916-1917 as shelter from the elements and the enemy. The grotto-shrine is a symbol of peace and holds the statue of the Madonna that was donated and consecrated by Pope John Paul II during his visit to the Marmolada on August 26th, 1979. Holy Mass can be celebrated upon reservation.
