A SPECTACULAR DESCENT ALONG THE BELLUNESE RUN WITH CRAMPONS AND SNOWSHOES

Marmolada_vista Punta Rocca e BelluneseSay goodbye to the winter tourist season on the Marmolada with an unprecedented event on these UNESCO World Heritage mountains.

The Bellunese slope will be the centre of all the action. This skiing mecca in the Dolomites is considered a “record” run for its impressive length of 12 km and an altitude difference of almost 2000 m. In the afternoon of Sunday, April 10th, 2016, you can follow it freely with crampons and snowshoes.

This completely new initiative is called Marmolada a Tutta, and it’s an absolute novelty for the Bellunese slope, which is famous in the entire Alpine chain as a veritable must for ski and snowboard fans.

The meeting is set for 2:00 p.m. at Malga Ciapela, at the bottom of the Marmolada #MoveToTheTop cable car lift, to pick up jersey numbers and for last minute registrations. Then it’s up to Punta Rocca (3265 m), where, after the runs close to skiers at 4:15 p.m. the race will begin. Contestants will cross the Marmolada glacier to Passo Fedaia and then venture into the woods on the return to Malga Ciapela (1450 m). Fantastic, five star, 360° views of all the Dolomites will provide the background for the event.

Registration is already open on the organizer’s website: www.ngtiming.com. The first 50 contestants to register will receive a free round trip ticket for the Punta Rocca/ Malga Ciapela/Marmolada cable car lift to use over the summer. There  will be prizes in the men’s and women’s fields for both categories: crampons and snowshoes.

The participation fee is  € 30.00 (€ 20.00 for ski-pass holders) and includes: ride on the cable lift, race gadgets, race number, timing and ranking services, race refreshments, medical aid, transportation to the valley, backpacks and a visit to the Museum of the great War at Serauta.
